A Year of Paintings

It is very wintery outside, and for those of us in my neck of the woods--we're hunkering down for a coming Nor'easter. Inside my studio--things are very different--I am launching a new project to remind us all of the coming spring and summer: A Year of Paintings

A Year of Paintings is a unique subscription club for art lovers.  Participants will receive six original oil paintings throughout the year all at an incredible value.

How it works

A Year of Paintings represents a substantial value for collectors (over 50% savings).  Your first painting will arrive in March and every other month thereafter. Paintings may be picked up at my studio or shipped right to your door. There is a limited number of subscriptions available. Paintings are 10x10 inches in size on gallery wrapped canvas and are wired and ready for hanging.  The price for a subscription is $600.

My Community Supported ART project - half way through!

Have you heard about Community Supported ART?

CSArts have been popping up all over the country and work in much the same way as CSA's --with customers receiving orginal fine art rather than fruits or veggies.

I am halfway through my first CSArt project: A Year of Flowers, and just finished these lovely peonies in shades of pink and cream.

This is how my CSArt works:
Folks purchased a "share of art" back in the spring (at a 50% savings off of retail).  Over the year, they will recieve 6 original oil paintings, each depicting a different seasonal flower.  So far, they've been treated to tulips, iris & peonies. The challenge for me is which flowers to choose, only 3 more to go!

I'll give one hint--I see some sunflowers in their future.

Stay tuned for next year...

I will be offering two CSArts next year. Another Year of Flowers (It will take me a while to get through them all) and Backyard Chickens.

Here's a little look at some of the paintings my CSArt clients have received so far this year...

CSArt: your art shares are ready!

I just finished up the second batch of CSArt shares.  Folks will be picking up their paintings in my studio this week--which is always a fun time.  I love passing along the delight of flowers.

Wondering what Community Supported Art is all about?

It's hard to choose which seasonal flower to paint fo the art shares--there are so many! I walked around my garden to see what was poking up and went to a few area greenhouses (I should leave my wallet at home when I do that, I'm like a kid in a candy store).

What settled it was a lovely and unexpected gift from a friend.

She recently went to see the "Van Gogh Up Close" exhibit at the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Lucky you if you got to see in person! Knowing I was not going to get there in person myself, my friend bought me the exhibition catalog book.

What a treat that was and the next best thing to actually going.

Leafing through the pages was the perfect reminder of why I've always admired Van Gogh's work: the wonderful textures in his paintings, the expressive brushwork, the japanese influences in his florals, and of course the colors.

So when I turned to the pages with his iris paintings, the decision was made.

Feeling inspired?  There is still time to join in on the fun. Send me an email and we can discuss.

March CSArt shares: tulips!

Kristina Wentzell, tulips in a glass vase, March CSArt share, oil on canvas, 10 x 8 inches. ©2012

My CSArt project: A Year of Flowers started this month. First up, tulips. It's been fun to have folks drop by my studio to pick up their first shares. (Also good excuse to tidy up the place for spring ;-) It reminds me of how fun it is to pick up the first farm share in the spring--all those fresh, healthy greens in the first few weeks. It feels like I'm getting a treasure. I hope these painted blossoms impart the same eexcited anticipation!

No worries if you don't live locally. Shares can be shipped right to your door. I'm packing up these red tulips for some folks out of state.

the first ART shares are ready!

A Year of Flowers has officially started!

The first art shares for March are tulips in shades of pink and red. A cheerful and festive start for the year, don't you think? And the weather here in New Hampshire has very graciously turned springlike...my tulips in the garden are serendipitously poking their way out.

Wondering what all the fuss is about?

A Year of Flowers is a community supported ART project. Much like a farm share, folks pay an upfront fee of an "art share". Participants will receive six original oil paintings, each depicting a different seasonal flower. All at a tremendous value, over 50% savings.

A Year of Flowers

My CSArt project: A Year of Flowers starts soon.

First up, tulips.

I thought a lot about which springtime flower would be the first to start off my project. Crocus, daffodils, hyacinths...there are so many lovely, delicate blooms this time of year. Tulips seemed to me to be the classic harbinger of the season and they come in so many lovely colors and varieties. Check back soon to see the paintings.
