progress

I've learned a lesson or two this month. This whole painting a day thing is killing me. I love the idea of it. What a great way to get some discipline in the studio, try out some new techniques, media, not angst so much about subject matter, etc. Just do it. Well, life has intervened a bit (motherhood, cooking, cleaning, life in general, not to mention a husband going out of town for extended periods of time).

So, my painting a day has turned into just painting more. Today, I went back to watercolors for a while. My daughter and I spread our supplies out on the kitchen table and went at it for a couple of hours. I love the energy and quickness I can get with watercolors. Still trying on getting that same effect with oils. I see glimpses of it here and there. Here is some of today's work:

update

My painting a day has gotten a bit sidetracked. I just finalized plans to be in a show at RedFish Gallery in May. So, I've been in a bit of a panic with that: scouring through photos for references, and starting several large pieces. I have been painting every day...so bear with me, I hope to post some things soon!

30 day challenge

Hello and welcome to my art blog. To start off the new year, I have given myself a challenge to paint 30 paintings in 30 days. I'm planning on this being a very productive year and I thought this would be a good kickstart.
